Worked in my studio this morning from 8am-noon and I finished up my last big painting for the show. Big, being a relative term. It measures 12×12 inches. Which is not big, but compared to my mini’s, like the painting above, it is large. Also put some finishing touches on some other small paintings and started a few more.

This may be odd, but I hate signing my pieces when I finish them. I always wait to the last second. Since my name is so dang long, I sign my paintings as BGMills and I always have such a hard time with the B and the G. I need to find a teeny tiny brush reserved for signing. One of the things on my to-do list is to sign all my paintings and also prepare the backs. Tracy Helgeson wrote a really helpful blog entry on how she marks the backs of her paintings. If you want to read it, it is under May 10th, 2006.

I don’t have a nifty label like she does, although I am tempted to make one to use in the future. For now I write the title of the painting on the back, the year, and my full name.

Details, details, details. The good news is I am still on schedule!

  1. Bridgette these are simply amazing. This one is my favorite yet. Good stuff! I need to set my studio up to work with encaustic more – I just love the texture and layering here. Delicious!

  2. love this one!

i saw a tool recently online used for signing art…it’s not a brush. i thought it looked interesting. i’ll send a link if i can find it again. i have trouble signing my name with a brush, so i often use a pen or with wax i might inscribe my name into the wax with a sharp tool.
