art talk and desserts

Noah and I trekked out to Snohomish today to have lunch at Trish Seggebruch’s house. She was kind of enough to invite my little guy so that I could join in the fun. It was nice to see everyone again and to meet new people too and catch up and do the art talk thing. The wonderful thing about this group is how supportive and encouraging everyone is. A couple people brought things they were working on to share or to get a critique. I did not, as it was a miracle that I got myself, Noah, his toys, and our food out the door and all the way to Snohomish on time. But I got to peek at these little assemblage boxes that Binky Bergsman has been working on. Little intimate worlds inside a box.

As always it was so nice to seeKaron Leigh who has a new studio space in Everett. She will be hosting an encaustic show there in March that I will be participating in. I can’t wait to see the new space. It sounds great.

I am excited too that the encaustic painting below now has a new home with Edmonds’ artist Sue Robertson. It’s funny because I bought one of her paintings before I met her. Actually her painting was the first painting that we ever bought to hang on our walls in our home. So it was a momentous occasion for me. We both knew when we saw it, that we had to have it for our home.

Then I met Sue at one of Trish’s gatherings this past year and had brought the painting to work on in Trish’s studio. Sue said that ever since then, the painting has stayed in her head. We must have some sort of special communication together through our artwork!

at this moment, encaustic, 14×14 inches

I will be heading out to Trish’s again soon for Stephanie Lee’s workshop. I can’t wait! But first, I must actually send my check to reserve my spot. I should’ve brought my checkbook with today. I think there are still some spots available, so if you’re in the area, it looks like a very cool workshop!

wish I was in the area, would love to get in to some of these workshops. Hope that Daniel Smith has some good ones going on while I am there in the summer. That’s right, we have plans to come for the entire visit so expect a visit or two from me! erika
