I created this over a week ago, I believe. Time has been passing so strangely lately, it seems. Been going through a lot of changes and transitions in the past few months and I have been looking for the unseen blessings in it all. I know they are there and they are starting to make their appearance to me…that is, if I stay open to receiving. Sometimes it is hard.

I will be working on more bowl and vessel paintings in the next few months as I prepare for a solo show at the Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. The show is slated for April 2013. I am really excited about this opportunity and also looking forward to seeing this series develop.

This is my first bowl painting created in my new studio space. The palette is lighter in this one than my usual…hmmm…

  1. On your recommendation I bought Everyday Sacred and absolutely loved it. I was so sorry when I turned the last page. Your bowl paintings feel sacred. Unseen blessings…. beautiful! It will be a wonderful exhibition.

  2. Fantastic work Bridgette. I love the serenity of it interrupted by the slash of black. The division in the canvas makes me feel as if this is a story and I’m witnessing both the beginning and the end.

Congratulations on the show. I feel so lucky to live close enough to be able to go!

  3. Love your beautiful bowls, Bridgette. Sue Bender is my hero. I’ve read and reread each of her books.
Did your palette lighten when the winter dark set in? Have a wonderful time preparing for you solo show.

    1. Thanks Carole- not sure what the deal is with the lighter palette. I have been in kind of a funk lately, so it could just be me trying to create a “lighter” feeling in my life.

  4. Thanks everyone for your feedback and messages! So glad that some of you have read Sacred Everyday since my post about it- such a great little book. I really want to get her earlier book about the Amish quilts.
