a fork in the road

 |  March 21, 2008

After I came back from Chicago I caught a nasty cold and am still recovering. I have not had much energy for anything beyond what needs to be done or taken care of. In addition to Noah and I attending music class and a gymboree play class and me chasing an inexhaustible running tot around, I have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Often when I’m quiet here on my art blog, I’m usually transferring my creative energy via food. Gotta create something, even if it’s not with paint. Even so, I was forced out of the house today and went to my studio this afternoon. It was a much needed break for me.

I also needed to go to Cugini’s and measure out the walls so that I can figure out what and where I will be hanging my paintings in April. I’m not allowed to put nails in the wall, which makes things a bit more challenging. And the ceilings are really, really high. Which makes me wonder how my little paintings will look. Well, I’ll figure something out.

I did manage to finish the commissioned painting that I have been working on for a few months now. I thought it was done about two weeks ago, but something was nagging me about one little corner. And I just couldn’t let it leave my hands with it not being just so. But now it’s done! Whew.

I worked in my journal today as I didn’t have the energy after I finished the painting to work on anything else. This spread is not the prettiest spread, but it actually was a good tool for me. Working through my issues regarding our future move. I believe that if you click on the image it will take you to my flickr page to see the full spread.

The image on the left is an old Chicago map. The image on the right is from a photo I took on Orcas Island (my most favorite place in the whole world). And the picture of me was taken in either Whidbey Island or Lopez Island. Probably Lopez. It is a polaroid transfer. I’ve had that transfer laying around for 3 years at least. I sewed it into the spread, between the two pages.

Beautiful piece, but I love the shot of you especially. You look very warrior-like, but in a good, quiet kind of way. Very peaceful & strong.

    Take care & get better.
