A group show opens on December 1st at Lark and Key Gallery in Charlotte, NC that I am so happy to have been included. I took this photo of my two pieces in the show before I packed them up and shipped down to North Carolina. When I first started thinking about the theme of this show I first thought about literal relationships found in nature, like a bee and a flower. I actually got excited about possibly doing a moss and lichen themed series. But then I started to think that I wanted to create work that approached “kindred spirits” a little broader or a little more abstractly. One of the things I think about often is that unless we see ourselves as part of nature, we may be less inclined to protect it. I kind of cringe at the word “protect”, because it’s more about being in communion and being in partnerships with the natural world, rather than a hierarchy. I wanted to create works that touch upon reflection and reciprocity. These thoughts spawned several new paintings this year and I am so happy that these are the first two that will be exhibited. Thank you Lark & Key!
I am posting this now as I will be on the road December 1st.
The online portion of the exhibit opens December 1st at noon and the show runs from December 1st – January 31st.
