love like an ocean
love like an ocean, encaustic on wood, 6×6 inches

My sister-in-law gave me and Noah an Elizabeth Mitchell cd to listen to as he just loves music, dancing and playing his little instruments. I love her. I even listened to her before Noah-I didn’t know she did children’s music! There is a song on the album called “Peace like a River” that I particularly like. One of the lines goes “I’ve got love like an ocean in my soul…” That refrain kept replaying in my head as I worked on this encaustic piece.

I took this particular photo of the Atlantic ocean back when I was in high school. Some friends and I were camping on Assateague Island, where the wild ponies roam. I woke up with the dawn’s light and took a walk by myself with my camera. I’ve used this photo many times in my mixed media work. Strange to think that it was first seen by the 17 year old version of myself. I really enjoy reworking my images over and over again, to see what I can develop through repetition.

Leah gave me a “You Make My Day Award” which happened to make my day when I read that. Sometimes I wonder about the whys of blogging. I started my blog to document my art journey, but I encountered people that I haven’t even met who I consider friends. Strange how that happens. And I’ve been lucky enough to meet people in 3D and that’s always neat. Reading Leah say that my blog post made her day definitely made me smile. Thanks Leah!

The description of this award follows: Give the award to up to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel so happy about blogland! Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so that they can pass it on. Beware! You may get the award several times!

This is hard to pick 10 people! I read quite a few art blogs and I wouldn’t read them if they didn’t impact me in some way. There’s just not enough time in the day! I wish I could list everyone. Just take a look at my sidebar of links too. hmmmm…

1. Leah Piken Kolidas for her dedication to being creative everyday. And for loving trees and the color blue.
2. Mary Ann Moss Her journals are a constant source of inspiration. As well as her photos of her neighborhood and the stories about the kids she works with. She is one nifty chickadee.

I am always surprised (well, not so anymore) when I read/look at your blog. Many many times I say ( to myself of course)" I wish I did that"
