Noah & I, October 20th, 2007, Port Towsend, WA

On Saturday we made it out Port Townsend to see the “Expressions Northwest” 9th Annual Juried art exhibit held at the Northwind Art Center. It was a beautiful fall day out there to walk around the streets of this old port town. It was great to see my painting hanging in the show. I still get an anxious feeling when I know I am going to see my work up in a public place. And hanging next to other paintings of artists whose names I recognize. One name in particular belongs to my sister-in-law’s husband’s mother’s husband, Harry Longstreet. That’s a mouthful. He is one of those people that is just so amazingly talented in the creative arts. I believe he just picked up photography in the past few years. His photograph in the show got a Merit Award and it really is a great photo. The show will be up until October 28th.

On Sunday I went down to Uwajimaya to meet up with Dawn Sokol at the bookstore, Kinokuniya and for some sushi. She was in town for ArtFiberFest this past week and was on her way to catch her plane back to Arizona. I met Dawn at ArtFest 2006 and it was so nice to see her again and catch up. So much has happened for both of us since the last time we saw each other. It’s crazy that that was only last year! We both ended up buying too much at the bookstore, but that’s what happens at that place. I got lots of cool Japanese stickers for my nieces and nephews for Christmas and a hilarious comic book, Angry Little Girls! by Lela Lee for myself. I

It’s always nice to catch up with friends from the online world in real life. The rest of the day I spent in the studio working on some more encaustics and framing up some tree paintings. Today is dedicated to cleaning the house and I still need to work outside in the garden and finish up winterizing it. My garden is seriously going to be the end of me one day.

  1. It was SO great to see you, Bridgette! You’re right, we’ve both had so much happen for us in the last year…Weird, but great! 🙂 I ended up getting to the airport in time and I read Angry Little Girls while I waited for my plane…and I LAUGHED and LAUGHED!

  2. Hi Dawn! Glad to hear that you got there in time. I was worried about your timing for returning the rental car. I am so glad I bought my copy of Angry Little Girls. I love it! I’m still trying to figure out which Angry Girl I am. 🙂

  3. okay, you guys are making me want to get a copy too. is it the mini one you guys have or the bigger size? i think i will have to get one for my little angry sister and some angry girlfriends. oh look, there’s even a calendar too. mmm.

  4. I have that book Angry Little Girls and at my baby shower, I look over to see my friend reading it to her 1 1/2 year old and I was like “NOOOO!” and she said “I know, I’m making up words.” Ironically, I found that book in the kid’s section at a bookstore.

  5. you must get one, mien! I saw that calendar too…hmmmm. The book is not minisize. I got the yellow one. But I’m thinking now that I need to get the red one too.

Thanks Raine. He really does look a lot like me. It’s weird sometimes! 🙂
