Transcend, encaustic mixed media by Bridgette Guerzon Mills

Another piece that originally started as a page in my visual journal. This has been a work in progress for a while. I wanted to add some texture and of course, I have always loved adding thread to my pieces, so I decided to play around with that. I knotted different strands together and made a wobbly ladder. I’ve been a little obsessed with ladders lately. And forks, but that’s another story for another day.

I had the red thread ladder in place and attached….and then I ended up collapsing into a tangle and got a small piece of thread and made a little circle around the one bird on the top right. I have many different thoughts about what this means to me. But thinking I’ll leave it up to the viewer to interpret it for themselves. I think my title though gives a hint to my thoughts.

My solo show, Duality of Being, at Gallery Blue Door, opens tomorrow, Saturday, March 7th, 4-6 pm. From today’s post and yesterday’s, it seems clear that I am still thinking about the duality that exists within and without and still working those thoughts out on panels. I think that will always be. It’s something I think about and return to over and over again. Sometimes consciously, often not.
