Unfolding

“Unfinished Poem
I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.”
― John O’Donohue

How I love John O’Donohue. I first encountered his voice and his work in an interview with Krista Tippett on On Being. I was mesmerized by his Irish accent and then his words spoke straight into my spirit.

Finished this mixed media encaustic painting today. Feels good to be back in the studio. Sweeping out the cobwebs, literally and metaphorically. I need to prepare for two shows, an installation, and an illustration project. Putting myself to work, on listening to my inner voice, and letting it unfold. Trust is such a huge part of my creative process. Just need to get my hands going.

  1. Yes. Good advice to get your hands going. Reminds me of Picasso when he said inspiration exists. But it has to find you working.

    1. Sometimes it is just about getting the materials in your hands and letting go…..but first you have to show up! Have you read Twyla Tharp’s book on Creative Habits? I’m re-reading it right now.

    1. Thanks Seth! I’ve been dreaming lately about picking up again…this time to Vermont on NH…….not going to happen. But I’ve been in a dreamy/longing kind of mood.
