This painting was completed shortly after the last painting I posted about. I am finally digging into my images and photos that were damaged by the flood. The tree used to be a full color print. Once it sat in several feet of water for a few days, the ink all leached out, leaving the faded tree with the magenta stain above. I have been wanting to use this image for a while, but I wasn’t ready. I am now. This is part of my “flooded” series, or something like that. I am sure the proper name for it will come to me as I work through it.

Great quote and I love this work! NICE Bridgette!
Thanks so much Sue
The textures and layering are gorgeous…as is the damaged image. Love it.
Thank you Jo
The painting is gorgeous, and the quote is so appropriate. Isn’t it interesting what serendipity can come out of the ashes (or in this case receding floodwaters).
It’s true. We need it to look for the best in all situations, that’s for sure. Luckily as artists we can create from all sources, happy, sad, painful, promising. Thankful for that!
I’m so thrilled that you used this lovely, faded tree … the whole piece is wonderful.
thank you! I have another one that I can’t wait to use. It’s really quite dramatic. Not sure if I’ll be able to do it justice, but I’ll try!
spectacular! the gist of cathartic works comes through. not sure how. but it does. this work is both fraught with intensity and calm. love it.
thanks jen. Intensity + Calm… hmmm, I like that!
The image of the tree looks perfect in this piece. Maybe its transformation is the one good thing that came from the flood.
very beautiful art
