at this moment, mixed media encaustic, 14×14 inches
One of the larger pieces that I brought to the painting party on Monday that was almost finished, but not quite. I was able to finish it there. Why do I love poppies so much? Well, I think they are extraordinarily beautiful. But at the same time kind of alien looking. Especially after the petals fall off and all that is left standing is the long neck and the pod. The fragile beauty of poppies is also what captures me. My poppies in my garden have long lost their petals. But I love the alien looking pods, so I refuse to cut them down until I have to. And then I save them, dry them, and put them in a vase.
Poppies, while in bloom, are a reminder to me to be in the moment. This is something that I am really trying to embrace right now.
I will be offline for a few days as my other sister and my three year old nephew are coming to visit and meet Noah. Can’t wait!
I love the texture. I love the flowers as well.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comment! Poppies and Ranunculus are my favorites. They are very similar- beautiful, fragile, delicate and weird looking.
Just come across your poppey – wonderful, you have caught the “poppeyness” of the poppy. I have them in the garden – and they are so transient.
Karen.
Beautiful.
I love the sea horse too! You are still very creative. Highly inspiring.
Merci
