Hot Wax in the City

I am excited to announce that I have two paintings in the “Hot Wax in the City” exhibit at Morpho Gallery this month, here in Chicago. Actually really looking forward to the show as several FUSEDChicago friends will also be showing at this small encaustic works exhibit and I am excited to see what looks to be some new work.

I had taken a bit of a break from submitting work this year- I know the horrors and should I admit that publicly?! But there comes a point where I have to look realistically at all the demands on my plate and this year I have had to focus a lot of my studio time on not only teaching preparation, but also building up my current body of work. After preparing for the 2-woman show with Crystal Neubauer earlier this year in March I was wiped! I have also been more interested in showing locally and looking at opportunities closer to home. Shipping can be such a bear. But anyway, this submission and acceptance ends my hiatus, so I am really looking forward to seeking out more exhibiting opportunities in the future. Always keeping eyes open and fingers and toes crossed! I do have another show coming up in October at the Zhou B Art Center again and I will be doing a talk and demo there during Chicago Artist Month at Studio 303. Stay tuned for more information as October approaches…

Morpho Gallery

Opening Reception: Friday, August17th 6-9:30 pm

I don’t have the list of the other artists in front of me as I type this up right now, but off the top of my head I know that there will be work by:

Alicia Forestall-Boehm
Emily Rutledge
Brad Hook
April Nomellini
Kathy Roman
Kathleen Waterloo
Denise Funfsinn
Isabelle Gougenheim
Mary Jo Parker O’Hearn
Donna Zarbin-Byrne
and Jenny Learner.

The show is curated by Kathleen Waterloo, Jenny Learner, and Kathy Roman. There are 15 artists total and it looks like it’s going to be a good show. Hope to see some of you locals there!
