Only In Solitude

“Only in Soliutude can you discover a sense of your own beauty. The Divine Artist sent no one here without the depth and light of divine beauty. This beauty is frequently concealed behind the dull facade of routine. Only in your solitude will you come upon your own beauty.” -John O’Donohue, Anam Cara

The tree image came from a winter walk I took here in Maryland, before I moved back.It was chilly out and snow flakes had begun to fall. But the stark beauty of the land called to me. So I pulled on boots, gloves and hat and went for a stroll. Took a lot of photos on that walk that I am finally starting to incorporate in new paintings these past few weeks.

The landscape here is really starting to regain its hold on me.

  1. There is something very special about winter time. I think it was only in the last two years that I developed a love for bare trees. So calm. So restful.

This is another beautiful work. I love the rustic wood and the nails…it ties in so well with all of the texture throughout.

  2. Love this piece – the stark tree feels like a reflection in an old barn – wonderful image. There’s a quote I love – ‘the color of springtime is in the flowers; the color of winter is in the imagination’ – Terri Guillemets

  3. ok so I have had some glasses of wine tonight, looking at your work and I am loving it…not one to wax lyrical normally, (wax pun not intended!) but it really is quiet, poetic and personal, does that make sense? anyway, I am enjoying it 🙂

  4. Beautiful, powerful piece, Bridgette, and the quote goes with it so well… there really is great beauty and strength in solitude, and this piece speaks volumes in that regard…
