spring’s arrival

I have just lined up another little show for September. I will post more about it when the time approaches. It was only a year a half ago that I sat down and wrote out my goals and intentions for my paintings. I had been making and selling my journals since 2002, but I was feeling like I needed to devote myself to painting. But I was scared. The unknown. Fear of failure. Self doubt. The thing is, when one must paint, one paints, regardless of fears.

“I have not ceased being fearful, but I have ceased to let fear control me.” ~Erica Jong

If you have a dream, write it down. If you’re not a writer, use images that capture your vision. Envision. And then take the steps. Baby steps. Do the work. And believe.

Now, I’m no expert on these things at all. But I can only speak from my own experiences. I truly believe that if you can create a vision with clarity of mind and spirit, it can happen. It’s a journey of course and sometimes the vision will change. The important thing is to try.

  1. I love your work. Your blog page inspired me to create one myself. I look forward to meeting you soon and hope you will be joining us on painting day at Trish’s. Bring the baby. I need practice since I’ll be a new grandma in Sept.

i agree with everything that you wrote about baby steps. i was just saying the same thing to a friend yesterday. you express your thoughts so well and i enjoy visiting your blog so much. 🙂
    xoxo,
p.s. i wanted to tell you that during the detox and after when i went gluten free i was also joint pain free…now i am back to a few, well, most all of my old eating habits and the pain is back. ahhh! it really stinks cause i love sandwiches and i love pasta. there are alternatives and i got a few cookbooks from the library recently. baby steps, right? 🙂

  3. Bridgette, I just wanted to thank you for your supportive comment on my blog yesterday. It really means a lot to hear from people who didn’t agree with that particular person. And I know exactly what you mean about artists going agaist their nature by developing thick skins- it’s sort of an oxymoron, isn’t it? Thank you again, and your work is really beautiful!
