a personal update

Just when I was ready to fully kick it into gear with painting and creating journals like a maniac for holiday sales, I was put on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy.

There have been some complications with the growth of my little one and some new issues with my own health, so it is for him and for me that I am relegated to lay on my side and take it as easy as possible.

It’s been difficult for me as I am one of those people who must be doing something at all times. Not that I’m running around all the time, but more like I need to be productive. So it’s been an adjustment that I’m still trying to get used to.

I am hoping that if I adhere to the strict bed rest, that I will be put on modified bed rest and can do a bit more. But for now, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon. And I want to give my baby the best fighting chance to be healthy and well and deliver as close to full term as possible.

I had started some panels before the bed rest and if I can figure out some kind of modified work station I am hoping that I can still get them up on the site at some point.

As for my amanobooks customers who might be reading this, have no fear, your orders will be processed and shipped out as they come in. I have enlisted help in this department. However I will not be able to replenish my stock and once something is sold out, it will be gone until I am able to work again. I also will not be able to take any special custom orders as I won’t be able to work on special projects.

I don’t know if I will be posting here very often as this blog is mainly for art and journals, but I may start a daily drawing practice to keep me occupied. So you may see some drawings and sketches from me in the future! For now I have been knitting, doing crosswords, reading and watching lots of t.v. I think I’m all caught up on Top Chef and watched all of last season’s Project Runway. Hmmmm……10 more weeks to go!

Hoping and praying for the best…

The mixed media painting above is called “Your Warmth”. It measures 5×5 inches. I painted it a few months ago in the beginning of my pregnancy. The colors aren’t quite right. But can’t whip out the camera now for a better picture! So this will have to do for now.

  1. My best wishes to you and your little guy… I know you’ll both be fine….

You could just art journal in bed! It would be a great way to occupy yourself and keep the creative juices flowing! Just use pens, pencils, more dry media…Also, watch some movies about artists, like Frida, Pollock, etc….

  2. I was put on bed rest at 32 weeks. I am a lot as you describe yourself to be and had a tough time being restricted to the couch. It is easier to do for the baby though it seems.

Hope you both flourish with the rest.

    I love this piece.

  3. You and your little one are in my family’s prayers. I’m not so great at resting either, but the reason is such a good one! Thinking of you.

  4. Wonderful painting – If the colors are quite right, I haven’t noticed.

I can’t imagine having to stay put for very long, must be terribly frustrating of course, it’s important that you do.Be well !
