The Woods Were Glowing

Being new to this region we spend a lot of time exploring the outdoors. My husband recently started writing field scout reports for Backpacker Magazine for the mid-Atlantic region, so we’re always on the lookout for good hikes. Last fall we headed out to Patapsco State Park and it was one of those golden autumn days that makes me love fall so much and that I hoped to capture in this painting. A day where there’s not a cloud in the sky and the sun is out in its full glory, but the air is crisp, reminding you that winter is coming. I snapped a photo of the woods we were traipsing through because it looked like the woods were glowing. The leaves that were still clinging to the branches down to the leaves that were gathering on the forest floor. The pale trunks of the tall, slender trees seemed to glow as well. Beautiful.
This painting is hanging at GCDC as well and the price can be viewed here. But if you are in the area, GCDC is going to host an informal Meet the Artist gathering on Saturday, February 21st, from 2-4 pm. Hope to see you there!
The painting is beautiful and yes, it did capture the spirt of that day, just wonderful!
Thank you Gigi!
