breathe

I remember learning in an art history class a long time ago that the architects of cathedrals purposely created the vertical lines inside these houses of worship. These were meant to draw the eye up to the heavens.

And evoke a feeling of awe and wonder.

Life unfurling

And why are these photos in my art journal? Because these are the experiences that feed my soul and inspire my work. I always fail in capturing these moments with my camera, because I am not a photographer. But I hold these moments close to me and etch them into my cells.

I really try to convey what I feel when I’m out in the woods through my paintings. The feeling of awe, wonder, of quiet and solitude. Of the noise of the senses.
