emerging

I finished this small oil painting last Sunday. I started it, hmmm, over a year ago. Who would have thought that a tiny 4×4 inch painting could take that long?! Sometimes those things happen. It had to sit for a long, long time before I was ready to finish it, I suppose. I don’t think I could have painted this a year ago.

emerging, oil and mixed media, 4×4 inches

Today started out early but in such a good way. I had to go to my usual doctor’s appointment this morning at 7:00 am (!) But after my appointment I stopped in at Kaladi Brother’s Coffee on 511 E Pike which was just around the corner from my doctor’s office. The reason for going was to check out Binky Bergsman’s encaustic paintings that are currently hanging until August 4th. I ordered my latte and was able to get my fill of art all before 8 am! One painting there in particular grabbed me-it is called “Contemplating Parenthood”. I hope to see her bird encaustic painting finished that she was working on this past Monday. It was really cool and it wasn’t even finished yet.

So if you are in the neighborhood, go check it out. My latte was good too. And the barista guy was pretty chipper for it being so early. That’s always a good sign.
