I have been working on an oil painting commission since I came back from WA and it’s finally on the wall drying. Hurrah! So this week I pulled out my encaustic materials because a) I have an encaustic workshop coming up this weekend and one in October at Manor Mill. (There is still room!) and b) I wanted to finish up some panels that I started when I was in WA. And c) because.
I have a two person show coming up in early 2025 and I need to get working on that since the commission is done. I have some ideas, but sometimes in the early beginnings of getting work ready I just need to make stuff and see what happens and where it leads me.
Anyway. I finished this small panel yesterday. The fern was an impression I made with a fern frond that I picked up from the grounds at the retreat. And that earthy rusty part of the panel is from rusted papers I made with Kathie Vezzani on our own time. She has an incredible treasure trove of rusted things to make prints with. So much fun! And now I have a pile, a PILE, of rusted papers to use in my work.
Manor Mill visited my studio yesterday to make a video for my workshops. If you want to see me melting wax and paint, visit their Instagram and mine as well!
