When I returned from my visit with my family last week I felt more grounded. Steady. I can’t really say why. I think it’s about being around the people who truly love me for all that I am. Being with people that I trust all aspects of myself with.

On the plane I thought about how I wanted to do a mixed media panel reflecting on this. And of course my symbol that I always return to for that rootedness is a tree.

“Firme” in spanish means firm, steadfast unswerving

I think that this is one of those panels that I may return to again later as a larger painting. For now it has become bound as a journal cover.
