Hopes and Dreams Opening

 |  February 4, 2009

The opening reception for the “Hopes and Dreams” exhibit is this Friday, February 6th, 2009 5:30-8:00 pm at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery in Melbourne, Florida. I won’t be at the opening, unfortunately, but I hope it will be a big success for the women of Genesis House.

A portion of sales of the original artwork and 100% of the sales of the artists handmade books go to the support of Genesis House.

More than 11,000 women and children have been housed over the years by Genesis House, Inc. here in Melbourne. Many women come from abusive relationships or have become homeless due to unemployment. Genesis House is committed to providing a safe, supportive, caring environment. Education, self-discipline, self-reliance, and independence from the welfare system are earnestly promoted. Counseling, personal improvement classes and appropriate health care are obtained for all residents. Classes in childbirth and parenting are provided as needed.

The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, the premier member gallery in Brevard County, was established in 1975. It is artist owned and operated. The gallery is located in the historic Olde Eau Gallie Riverfront area of Melbourne, across the street from the Brevard Museum of Art.

For the Love of Bees and Genesis House - two very worthwhile causes - generosity breeds generosity, i.e., you!
