I am still obsessively painting fruit this week. After the pomegranates I went to the grocery store and picked up some more fruit. I was going to do a butternut squash, but I ended up turning that into a soup before I painted it. Anyway, I got a peach, somme figs and 2 quinces.
This week I painted three peach paintings. This was my third and my favorite. I guess I could consider the two smaller ones as studies. Which they were. I was definintley working things out and figuring out, ok I want to paint fruit, but what kind of painting do I want to make? Still working on that, but I like the quiet stillness of this peach painting.
I want to share my most recent peach creation in the kitchen that I have ever made, ever! I got the recipe from a cookbook that I have had for a long time called Dishing Up Maryland, 150 recipes from the Alleghenies to the Chesapeake Bay, by Lucie L. Snodgrass. I have a book from the state of Washington in the same series. I should get one from Illinois. Anyway this series of cookbooks showcases recipes from the farmers and food crafters, and in the Maryland case, the fishermen and oystermen too.

So easy and so good. Make this at the peak of peach season. I made this because a friend have me a basket full of peaches that she said were literally falling off the tree. Soooo good. The nutmeg was the perfect flavor with the peaches and cream.
I have made other baked good recipes from this cookbook and they have all been delicious. Maybe I ought to try one of non-dessert recipes. ha! I’ve always wanted to be a baker. This recipe is on page146 if you happen to go search for it.
