Bridgette Guerzon Mills | Matter and Memory, encaustic mixed media, 4 3/4 x7 1/4 inches

I have small scraps of cedar leftover from a home project that we worked on so I decided to make small collage/mixed media piece with them using my images and found materials. I love making these small pieces. Like fragments of thoughts. Notes to myself.

I recently started reading Underland by Robert McFarland….wow, what an evocative writer. I started it last night and this stuck out at me. Usually when I read nonfiction, I tend to doze off after a page, but I read about 40 pages last night.

“The same three tasks recur across cultures and epochs: to shelter what is precious, to yield what is valuable, and to dispose of what is harmful.” p8
