I have always loved the moon. In whatever phase she’s in, when I see her, I feel a calmness. And always a little awe. Never gets old.
I often take pictures of the moon when I am walking my dog in the evening. This moment of bare winter branches, pink clouds and the cresent moon had to be remembered. I am happy that I finally got a chance to paint.
I’m preparing for a show at Lark & Key this summer called “Serene” and I decided to make some moon paintings for it. This is the first one and I have a few more in the works. All oils on canvas. Hopefully I will have more to share soon.
I know it’s different than my usual mixed media work, but this is what is calling me to make. And while I am painting these moon and sky scenes, I feel a calmness that is lacking in the rest of of my days.
