Poured Out

  • February 20, 2006

I finished a 4×4 inch mixed media oil painting this weekend that had been waiting for me to finish it for several weeks now. I don’t know what my problem was…I guess I was waiting. I felt like what I wanted to say with it wasn’t in my grasp yet. So I let it sit.

And then by chance I ran across this Psalm, Psalm 22:14 to be exact.
I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint: My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.

And so I picked up my brushes and worked on this little 4×4 inch piece.

I think that even if one isn’t religious, the words are just captivating. Well, it captivated me and I can only speak for myself. Or let my images speak for me…

  1. This is really meaningful. The water relates to the inner soul of going through pain and suffering. It purifies you and makes you a stronger person. The water is a cleansing. In order to purify gold, it must go into a crucible. As the gold spins in the crucible, the pressure pulls off the dirt and the grime and leaves a purified piece of gold. It’s like the quote from Kahil Gibran that your big sister refered to at little Yvette’s funeral…”The deeper that sorrow carves into your being…the more joy you can contain.” This is beautiful Bridgette. I love you very much.
