Once again, another reworked piece that I finally feel 100% that it is as it should be. And it is done done. Always and forever. (Hopefully I didn’t just jinx it.)
The tree top is the same, but I changed the collaged bottom. Before the collage and paint were more in blocks, rather than these longer strips. I also used book spine, which I love, not just for the texture, but also for contributing to the meaning. Considering the title, Stories Are Held In the Land, it makes sense! Other materials in this piece also includes metal bits. Lots of paper, encaustic paint, and book spines.
The first iteration of this piece was back when we lived in Chicago and I was working on my vessels series. There used to be a bowl above the collage section. So many layers in this piece because I am never satisfied. But! Now I am.
