transcend
transcend
mixed media collage, 6×8 inches

tran⋅scend
 /trænˈsɛnd/
–verb (used with object) 1. to rise above or go beyond; overpass; exceed: to transcend the limits of thought; kindness transcends courtesy.
2. to outdo or exceed in excellence, elevation, extent, degree, etc.; surpass; excel.
3. Theology. (of the Deity) to be above and independent of (the universe, time, etc.).

Playing around with collage. Trying to use up oddball things that I have collecting in bins in my studio. I took some dark images, things with a gritty feel and then placed the angel on top. A reminder to myself to rise above chaos, pettiness, darkness. To find peace and calm when at times it seems impossible.

This panel will be bound into a journal as a cover. And it’s already sold. Hooray!

  1. Bridgette…if you only knew how this post…at this time…hits perfectly home for me…it’s amazing..I am so happy I read this at this exact moment in time.

  2. Thanks Katherine, Carmen and Julie.

Julie-so glad that this post came at a time when it was needed. I’m trying to heed its message too right now. Having a craptastic day, myself. xo

  3. Amazing work as always no matter what the subject. Your catalyst disturbs me: chaos is often of our own making, but pettiness and darkness – oh what has happened to cause you to write this? And what is a craptastic day because if it is what I think it is, I have had one too? (Ann from UK)

  4. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Meri-yes, this is very different than my usual! I like to use these panels for journals to mix things up a bit and experiment. It felt good to use up things that I have been saving in drawers.
