transcend
mixed media collage, 6×8 inches
tran⋅scend /trænˈsɛnd/
–verb (used with object) 1. to rise above or go beyond; overpass; exceed: to transcend the limits of thought; kindness transcends courtesy.
2. to outdo or exceed in excellence, elevation, extent, degree, etc.; surpass; excel.
3. Theology. (of the Deity) to be above and independent of (the universe, time, etc.).
Playing around with collage. Trying to use up oddball things that I have collecting in bins in my studio. I took some dark images, things with a gritty feel and then placed the angel on top. A reminder to myself to rise above chaos, pettiness, darkness. To find peace and calm when at times it seems impossible.
This panel will be bound into a journal as a cover. And it’s already sold. Hooray!
This is a beauty. I really like the concept and visual of the light over the dark.
What a great message Bridgette… and gorgeous collage.
Bridgette…if you only knew how this post…at this time…hits perfectly home for me…it’s amazing..I am so happy I read this at this exact moment in time.
xo
Thanks Katherine, Carmen and Julie.
Julie-so glad that this post came at a time when it was needed. I’m trying to heed its message too right now. Having a craptastic day, myself. xo
Amazing work as always no matter what the subject. Your catalyst disturbs me: chaos is often of our own making, but pettiness and darkness – oh what has happened to cause you to write this? And what is a craptastic day because if it is what I think it is, I have had one too? (Ann from UK)
Yay!!! And, Wow!!! That is a fantastic piece.
Are you staying warm there in Chicago?
This is amazing! and I too love the concept. Congrats that it has sold already 🙂
peace
Thanks Ann, Paula and Tanya.
paula-no, it’s freezing here. wah! i need spring to come soon!
ooooooo I love this Bridgette! so rich – I just wish I could get up close and personal with it…
hi bridgette,
what an amazing image which seems to have touched so many….transcend is an important word in my vocabulary too now and i love this image and write up.
gorgeous!
I really love this color palette and as usual, the piece also xxo
a wonderful word, an excellent message. thank you
Really nice Bridgette. No wonder it is already sold!
This has such a different feel from your usual pieces. They are generally so spare and almost ethereal. This, despite the angel, feels more active, challenging.
Thanks everyone for your comments.
Meri-yes, this is very different than my usual! I like to use these panels for journals to mix things up a bit and experiment. It felt good to use up things that I have been saving in drawers.
Beautiful piece, Bridgette. I had to say thank you because I’m feeling totally inspired.
Fabulous post, Bridgette – and on so many levels: creative, philosophical, and inspiring, not to mention “green”.
Beautiful collage it’s one of those “everone wants that one!”
