My little guy today told me that he wanted to “press the pedal on that machine”, so when his sister went down for a nap, we cut fabric strips and sewed them onto a card.

I love painting. I love my wax. But for some reason I dream of fabric and sewing and stitching….I’ve been incorporating those elements into my paintings. I allude to piecing together, stitch work and seams. But I think one day I will succumb to the lure of fabric.

And just because I’m a quote freak, here’s one I love:

“I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.”
~Augusten Burroughs

This so cool. My brother is the one who learned to sew. He liked and got comfortable with using the machine. I never really did.

I hope N continues his explorations!

What a lovely gift of creative undestanding you are giving your child. Like Windrock, I love to see those hands!

That is one quote I'm going to keep at the top of my head for the rest of my life.

I love seeing how you open your world to your children. I know I've said this before, but you are giving them a wonderful gift.

My mother was very creative and crafty and showed me how to do so many things. Spending time making things together are some of my best memories.

I, too, love fabric and have always incorporated some sort of fabric play into most of my collages. I just finished one for the new owners of our house as a sort of remembrance of what came before. This is an incredible quote, Bridgette. I am going to write it down and remember it. So fitting.
