where truth echoes, 5×7 blank journal
-sold-

It’s my little bird on its post facing the ocean again! This time, she is on an encaustic and mixed media panel that I made into a cover for another blank journal. This journal probably won’t be up on the site though until this weekend. I hope to have four other mixed media journals up at that time as well.

I lost my awl. I love my awl and I need it! Odd that one can get attached to a tool like an awl, but I’ve been using this awl for years now. I am pretty upset that I can’t find it. I ended up having to use my dremel drill to make the holes in the covers. The bit was a tad too big for my liking and made the holes a little rough. So, I added eyelets to give this cover a nice finish. I usually don’t use eyelets like this, but it really added a little something extra to the overall feel of this book cover.

My mother-in-law was in town a few weeks ago and gave me a very quick and basic lesson of my sewing machine, which I thought was broken. But apparently I was just not threading something right. Ever since then I’ve been sewing scraps of cloth together to use for journal covers and mixed media paintings. It’s been fun.

  2. thank genie and seth. Yeah, I can’t seem to get away from the image! it’s hard to believe it is something that I’ve carried with me since I was 17. 🙂

  3. No wonder it’s sold. Such rich textures, and your little bird is quite the emissary of “where truth echoes.”

    Lovely.
